The Vintry Garden, St Albans

The Vintry Garden, St Albans

Once tended by medieval monks, the historic Vintry Garden is in the centre of St Albans and close to the Abbey. It has recently been refurbished.

Inspired by the original monastic gardens, new herb and flower planting within the walled Vintry Garden is one of the highlights of the refurbishment programme. Extensive improvements to the North Churchyard and Romeland Garden were also part of the scheme.

The former vineyard to the monastic Abbey, has been enhanced with the use of traditional materials for the pathways and the repair of the historic 18th century walls.
